Description

The Building, Stops and Structures Technician is responsible for all planned and predictive maintenance for all facility equipment, including installing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment. The BSST Technician is also responsible for the inspection of structures, facilities and grounds at LRT stops and shelter locations.

Knowledge and Skills:

· Diploma in an industrial trade or discipline, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, millwrighting, pneumatics, construction, electronics, or building automation. Equivalent qualifications or a combination of education and experience will also be considered.

· 2- 5 Years’ experience working with building, electrical and mechanical systems

· Trade certification preferred: Facilities Technician (255B), Electrician (442A), Refrigeration (313A), Gas Fitter (G2, G3), Plumbing (306A), Industrial Millwright (433A), and Fire Alarm (CFAA) Licenses are considered an asset

· Building Environmental Systems – Operator (Class I,II) and/or 4th Class Power (Operating) Engineer (TSSA) certification is an asset

· Joint Health and Safety Certification is considered an asset

· Basic Microsoft Office and computer skills

· Knowledge of Maximo and Computerised Maintenance Management System

· Occupational Health and Safety

· Experience with Johnson Controls, SCADA or BAS (Building Automation System) programming is preferred

· Forklift, elevated platform and crane experience preferred

· Experience in the rail transit or transportation industry as an asset

· Strong analytical ability to diagnose and resolve practical issues

· Able to read and understand schematics, operations, service and safety manuals

· Strong attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and safety

· Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently

· Communicate clearly and concisely in English, both verbally and in writing

· Self-starter to anticipate and resolve needs and requirements

· Proven ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining safety and quality

· Strong manual dexterity to use various hand tools and equipment

· Able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds frequently

· Able to climb, kneel and walk regularly, and work at heights

· Able to work in all weather conditions, with exposure to live track/trains and high voltage

· Able to work rotating shifts, including overtime and on-call requirements

· Must have Valid G driver’s license with ability to operate vehicle

· DZ license an asset

· Must be legally entitled to live and work in Canada.
